Research Areas

Research in the Program encompasses many interests within the fields of photonics and optoelectronics, but can be divided into six main areas (with the names of faculty members).

  1. Optoelectronic Materials and Processing - Growth of semiconductor materials, quantum wells, quantum wires, and quantum dots, by MBE and MOCVD- Ilesanmi Adesida, K. Y. Cheng, Kent Choquette, James J. Coleman, Nick Holonyak Jr., K. C. Hsieh.

  2. Optoelectronic Devices and Physics - Semiconductor lasers and LEDs, VCSELs, DFB lasers, optical modulators, optical add/drop filters, optical wavelength converters, photodetectors, photoreceivers, high-speed circuits, and modelings: Ilesanmi Adesida, Y.
