Mission Statement

The mission of the Illinois Program for Photonics and Optoelectronics is to conduct research on optoelectronic materials, devices, optical physics, and photonics technologies, and to provide education in these areas. The Program brings groups from different laboratories, within and outside of the university, together for collaborative research. Important functions of the Program include stimulating interest in this exciting field and fostering new ideas and research in optoelectronic materials and devices, photonic systems, optical telecommunications systems, biophotonics, imaging, optical remote sensing, and optical physics.
