Mission Statement

The University of Illinois has a long history of excellence in research and education. The Illinois Program for Photonics and Optoelectronics at the University of Illinois was formed in 2002 by a group of faculty with research interests in optics, optoelectronics, and photonics systems. Our faculty members are from various laboratories (Everitt Laboratory, Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory, the Beckman Institute, Coordinated Science Laboratory, Loomis Laboratory, and Materials Research Laboratory) on campus and conduct research on many exciting projects.

The Program provides an environment for interaction and collaboration through activities such as establishing the photonics seminar series and carrying out joint research projects. We hope the information on this web page will give you a good picture of the research and education opportunities in the Program.
